Five Must Visit Attractions In London

On our blog, we often go all around the world to highlight some of the best travel experiences on offer in all four corners of the globe. For our latest post, we’re staying close to home and revealing five of our favourite attractions in our home city of London.

Even if you’re a local, we can sometimes be guilty of overlooking some of the best experiences on offer in our city. As one of the world’s most visited cities, London truly has something to offer for everyone. From history steeped spots or fine food and electric nightlife, here are our top picks.

Check out the iconic British Museum

Granted, museum visits aren’t always for everyone. BUT, if you’re going to take the time to visit just one museum in London, it should most definitely be the world-famous British Museum; the country’s largest and one if it’s finest, dating back to 1759 boasting ancient history from all around the world. It’s no wonder this place attracts 5.9 million visitors annually.

Experience the West End Theatre

London’s West End is home to world-renowned shopping areas such as Oxford Street, Bond Street and Regent Street, great restaurants and busy bars. However, the real star of the show is the spectacular line-up of West End theatre shows. What better way to spend your evening than with a lavish dinner and a trip to the West End for one of its iconic shows such as The Lion King and The Book of Mormon.

Head to The South Bank to visit the historic Shakespeare’s Globe

The new globe was designed to resemble the original as closely as possible. If you want to experience the history of Shakespeare, this is the place for you. Visits to the Globe offers tours of the theatre and access to the exhibition space dating back to the 17th Century.

Visit Camden Market

If history and theatre aren’t your thing, we think that Camden market might appeal to you. Camden Market is home to over 1,000 shops and stalls offering fashion, food and bespoke bars aplenty, you could easily spend a day here. In the summer, Camden is a fantastic place to be with its live music offerings, rooftop gardens and charming, typically British watering holes.

Take in the city views

London is home to a pretty spectacular skyline with plenty of top spots to take it in from. Whether you take on the climb at the O2 to have a look at London from 53 metres above North Greenwich, head up to the Shard to cocktails as you soak in the city views or hop on the iconic London Eye, one thing’s for sure, you’ll be able to appreciate your impressive surroundings in style.

Of course, these are just five of the many highlights on offer in one of the world’s most captivating cities. We know you might think we’re a little biased, but we love London here at BWG – if you’re yet to visit, you really should do. In the meantime, stay curious!
