As Summer Comes To An End, Take Advantage Of What Is Left Of The Warmer Weather
It was yesterday that summer began and we were all battling to cope with the heatwave experienced. However, before you know it, summer will come to an end and the cooler months will have us sitting back in front of the fireplace again, trying to warm our bodies from the cold.
Before you take out the winter warmers and hibernate from the icy elements, here are some ideas to make the most of what is left of summer.
Explore your hometown
Tap into your inner-tourist and explore your city as a newcomer. Are there any sights you’ve never seen, or restaurants you’ve never tried? Take a hike you’ve not done before or take the family along this time. They may show you things you’ve missed on a previous occasion. It’s amazing what gems you can find right on your doorstep when you actually take the time to explore and find them. You may find something right around the corner that’ll become your new favourite spot for future outings.
Visit local events
Try something you’ve not done before. Join a park run, or yoga by the sea. Go to an art exhibition or watch a show in your local theatre. Attend a local music festival or go to a fresh food market. Many towns and cities host an array of local events, you just need to find them! Browse online or check social media for events near you. You may even find them listed in your local newspaper. Sometimes just asking a friend, family member or colleague what they do for fun, could open the door to your new favourite pastime.
Host a pool party
Is there any better occasion to host a party by the pool, than a celebration of the end of summer? And don’t fret – if you do not have a pool, why not hire an inflatable pool or hot tub, or even a water slide? Find a fantastic drinks recipe for a signature cocktail and host the party of the year. It could land up being such a success that your friends request it becomes an annual event.
Go for a picnic in the park
Pack some delicious snacks, treats and sweets and head off to the park for the afternoon. Lay and gaze at the cloudy sky or meditate by a meander. Take a brilliant book or spend the afternoon wrapped up in your thoughts. Why not invite your family and play a game of football, or frisbee?
Turn your backyard into your own private campground
Pitch a tent, grab some lanterns and make a firepit to roast marshmallows on. This simple yet ingenious “home away from home” will not only save you plenty money, but will create fantastic memories of the time you camped at home. Just remember to bring the bug spray!
Go on a spontaneous roadtrip
Nothing compares to the open road, the warm wind blowing through your hair and some classic tunes to make it feel like summer. Grab your best pal and take a drive. Leave the navigator or map on the backseat (as you may need these to find the way home) and travel wherever the road takes you. Who knows what (or where) you may discover?
No matter what you decide to do, try and take full advantage of summer. Although the warmer weather may be coming to an end, the fun doesn’t have to. Make the most of the last days of summer.
