Swallows are so incredible to watch as they feed on the wing. Their pattern as they fly, the swooping, echoes the waves of the sea, which seemed like the right environment, as it's often on holiday where Jane would delight in watching them performing their acrobatics on the waters edge.

Swallows are steeped in symbolism, being used to represent the flight of the soul, freedom, and also symbolic of travel and homecoming. Sailors would get tattoos of swallows to remind them of safely returning to the ones they love.

The lino cut is hand printed onto hand made lokta paper. The image measures approx 24cm x 16.5cm, and is printed onto paper trimmed to approx 31cm x 24cm. Each print is slightly different.
