Clean the Air in Your Home with these Plants
It's a common misconception that the air inside our house is cleaner than the air outside. After all, we don't really smell the earth or the car exhausts or feel the dust. But according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, air from inside our homes are up to five times more polluted than air from outside. One other expert reminds us homebodies to crack open a window as frequently as possible. If you own furniture, paint, carpets, or other home materials that are not eco-friendly, there's a high chance they are off-gassing.
Off-gassing releases harmful particles into the air. This occurs on objects that are made of synthetic materials or chemicals and through time are naturally degrading.
While these facts are quite alarming, this doesn't mean we're living outside now. Instead, it should hopefully encourage all of us to make positive changes in our life. That includes spending more time in our private garden, neighbourhood park (with precautions) or by a large window. There is one safe and comfortable change we can do: add air-purifying plants to our homes.
