With leather chairs in the 15th century lounge, oak beams, and a huge open fire it retains its sense of the past not least of all with its queen’s suite, said to have accommodated elizabeth i in 1591. The hotel is dog friendly.
The grand dining area is overseen by head chef richard cave-toye serves a quintessentially british menu and has been awarded two aa rosettes.
